Automobiles in Germany's Town Discovered Marked with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Authorities mentioned they were alerted by a man who noticed a vehicle in Hanau smeared with red-colored fluid

Around 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to authorities.

Cars, walls and postal boxes were defaced, in some cases with swastikas, they stated in a statement.

Officers state they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued fluid.

The liquid had been placed in the form of a swastika, they stated.

Police then found many other marked cars and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement state early analysis show the liquid was likely human bodily fluid.

"There is still no lead as to its origin; officials are currently not informed of any injuries in connection with the event," they commented.

Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to solve the mystery" and have appealed to the public for details.

An important official stated the incident left him speechless and required to be solved quickly.

"This incident affects the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he stated on social media, recalling the death of nine victims by a assailant aiming at residents of immigrant origin in five years prior.
