Two Arrests Following Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident

The assault resulted in the partial shutdown of the CTA tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

An additional two individuals have been arrested related to a theft at Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals were injured by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, according to law enforcement.

A man, 24, was arrested in Lambeth for suspected theft and assault and a woman, 23 was detained on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. They both remain in custody, the force said.

These detentions come after a probe into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the attack, a pair of female travelers were robbed of their luggage after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was among the injured during the incident. Five people were taken to the hospital for treatment and have since been released.

Officers detained a 31-year-old man for suspected robbery and assault close to the location. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.

Police were alerted at approximately 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of several individuals injured by an irritating chemical thought to be an irritant spray.

The attack - which police said was a standalone incident and not being treated as an act of terror - caused delays to rail services and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility briefly.
